10月から4月のヴァイキングシーズンでは、まるでノルウェーのフィヨルドがまったく違う姿に様変わりするようです。移り変わる天気が景色を変え、人々の気分を変えていきます。澄みきったフィヨルドが霧に包まれ、山の頂が雪化粧をします。海岸線は、温暖なメキシコ湾流により、しばしばむき出しのままでフィヨルドに氷は張りません。夏の訪問者たちは去り、観光地にはのんびりとした静けさが戻ります。心に染み込んでくるこの静寂、神秘的でおとぎ話のような空気を感じてみてください。

この時期にフィヨルド・ノルウェーを訪ねると、五感すべてが目を覚まします。圧倒的な風景は、スキーや釣り、スノーシューなど楽しい雪のアクティビティを満喫できる自然の遊び場になります。大都市にも小さな村にも、季節の素材を使った郷土料理を提供するレストランや食事処があります。どこに行ってもフィヨルド・ノルウェーの人々、すなわちヴァイキングの末裔たちの文化や歴史について知ることができます。

マイペースに空間や平穏を楽しんだり、未知なる世界への冒険に出かけましょう。「フィヨルドでヴァイキングする」、私たちはこう表現しています。

名所を探検

フィヨルド・ノルウェーを探検するなら、ベルゲン(Bergen)、オーレスン(Ålesund)、スタヴァンゲル(Stavanger)がおすすめのスタート地点です。地方の主要都市として、ヨーロッパ各所から直行便が出てアクセスが便利です。電車、船、バスにちょっと乗るだけで都会から静かな田舎、大自然に出ることができます。

大雪や強風の場合、道路や山道が閉鎖されることがあります。そのため、この時期にフィヨルド・ノルウェーを訪ねるときは、公共交通機関をおすすめします。

ベルゲンからスタート

7つの山に挟まれたベルゲンでは、賑やかな都会と平和な自然が共存します。ベルゲンから電車に乗ってメルヘンなフロム(Flåm)へ。険しい山岳と氷瀑に囲まれたフィヨルドの村です。フィヨルドクルーズやRIBサファリ、ガイド付きスノーシューツアーに参加しましょう。『ロンリープラネット』が世界一の電車旅と称えるフロム線は、それそのものがアトラクションです。

ベルゲンから車で2時間弱のミルクダーレン(Myrkdalen)スキーリゾートには、バラエティ豊かなコース、テレインパーク、山スキースロープがあります。

ベルゲンが拠点なら、風光明媚なハダンゲルフィヨルド(Hardangerfjord)とヴォーリングフォッセン滝(Vøringsfossen)までたっぷり冒険することもできます。チャレンジ派なら、ノルウェーを代表する岩層トロルトゥンガ(Trolltunga)へのガイド付きスノーシューツアーに挑戦しましょう(2月中旬から5月)。「Hotel Ullensvang」では、フィヨルドのパノラマが見られるサウナでリラックスしたら、全長88mの屋外プールにゆったり浸かることができます。自分だけのアドベンチャーなら、ハダンゲルフィヨルド周遊旅行へどうぞ。

オーレスンからスタート

アールヌーヴォーの街オーレスンから探検できるのは、ヒョルンドフィヨルド(Hjørundfjord)の雪山、そしてダウンヒルやスキーツーリングの楽園Sunnmøreアルプス。オーレスンからわずか50㎞の位置にはストランダ(Stranda)スキーリゾートがあります。こちらは粉雪、長いスロープ、山頂からフィヨルドまで一気に滑れることが自慢。また、ゴンドラで山頂まで上り、ユネスコ世界遺産のガイランゲルフィヨルド(Geirangerfjord)を一望できます。スキーツーリングが初めてなら、ストランダのガイドツアーが最適です。経験のあるスキーヤーでも、雪崩に遭わないようにするため地元ガイドと一緒に行くのがよいでしょう。

ノールフィヨルド(Nordfjord)の奥深くから伸びる最新型のケーブルカーLoen Skyliftに乗るなら、オーレスンが最寄りの国際港で、バスで約2時間半です。このケーブルカーは、フィヨルドからHoven山の頂上海抜1,011mまでを5分で上ります。山頂からは、凍ったフィヨルドの眺望を楽しめます。レストランのテーブルからでも、トボガンぞりやクロスカントリースキー(装備はレンタル可)をしながらでも。たくさん遊んだ一日の締めくくりには、「Hotel Alexandra」のスイミング施設へ。スパと屋内外プールを備えています。

スタヴァンゲルからスタート

ベルゲンから南へ約200㎞のスタヴァンゲル地方は、自然、料理、木造の古家屋で知られています。都市部からリーセフィヨルド(Lysefjord)のウインタークルーズに出かけたり、ガイド付きスノーシュー遠征でプレーケストーレン(Preikestolen)の崖へ。演説台を意味するこの場所は、『ロンリープラネット』が世界で最も息を呑むような見晴台と評価しています。この時期では、雪に覆われた自然美を見て、混雑のない道や眺めを楽しむことができます。この地方では、サーフィンが通年で人気のアクティビティです。

フィヨルドとは?
